Naples tops in Florida on 'best hidden gem cities for snowbirds' list by Architectural Digest
Snowbird is the moniker assigned to those who flee the cold north, usually by the time the first snowflake falls, for the warmer climates of the southern and western United States.
Florida is well known for its annual influx of snowbirds. And for good reason.
Eleven Florida cities were ranked among the "best hidden gem cities for snowbirds" in a study by Architectural Digest.
Naples ranked second on the list, with high marks for housing and lodging availability along with activities and dining.
Naples, recently ranked third in Florida for its Instagram-worthy locations, was runner-up to New Orleans.

How were cities ranked?
Architectural Digest said its ranking of the top 75 cities was based on housing and lodging availability, Yelp rankings – between four and five stars but only six to 75 reviews to indicate they're relatively undiscovered – for activities and eateries. Weather and the cost of homes were also determining metrics.
Why Naples ranked high on the list

With a commendable 10th place in the weather category and beautiful Floridian homes widely available, its appeal is undeniable," Architectural Digest said about Naples' second-place ranking.
