Naples Turkey Trot helps community groups. Here's how

NAPLES – The Naples Turkey Trot is always a big day for the community, in part because it’s Thanksgiving but also for the good it does.

Toward that end, organizers said new records were set at the 13th annual event held Nov. 24 at Naples Community Park.

For one, 183 people trotted and in doing so, raised $4,589.

Who gets what in Naples

It seems like everyone took part in the Naples Turkey Trot, and it might be true: A record number of participants came out for the Thanksgiving Day event.

Of the $4,589 raised in entry fees, individual donations and business sponsorships, the bulk of it goes to Naples Hospeace House, at $1,419.

The Naples Open Cupboard gets $1,119, and the Naples Community Park Foundation gets $998. The Naples Central School Teacher Partnership Committee gets $953.

And because the varsity girls soccer team had the greatest Naples sports team participation, $100 will help throw them a pretty impressive pizza party.
