Narrows Center announces March concerts and a new gallery show

FALL RIVER — The Narrows Center for the Arts’ schedule ramps up in March with 11 nights of concerts. The month begins with “ Don Felder - Formerly of The Eagles” and will end with two back-to-back nights of Tab Benoit. The current gallery exhibition 19 on Paper continues. The new exhibition The Heart of the Story: Illustrated Adventures of Creatures Real and Imagined will begin mid-march.

UPCOMING CONCERTS

Tuesday, March 1 - Don Felder - Formerly of The Eagles

Don Felder is a legendary singer-songwriter, a 1998 inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with the Eagles, a New York Times best-selling author and a true American rock and roll guitar hero. Felder spent 27 years with The Eagles who own the fine distinction of recording the top-selling album of all time - “Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975)” - which has sold over 38 million copies (and counting).

Wednesday, March 2 - Bruce Cockburn

For 50 years, this Canadian musical legend has been capturing in song the essence of human experience – while fiercely striving to make it better. One of Canada’s finest artists, Bruce Cockburn has enjoyed an illustrious career shaped by politics, spirituality and musical diversity. His remarkable journey has seen him embrace folk, jazz, rock and worldbeat styles while traveling to such far-flung places as Guatemala, Mali, Mozambique and Nepal, and writing memorable songs about his ever-expanding world of wonders.

Thursday, March 3 - Teddy Thompson and Jenni Muldaur

Teddy Thompson and Jenni Muldaur, along with producer David Mansfield, have spent the spring and summer recording the classic duets of Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton, George Jones and Tammy Wynette, and Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn.

Friday, March 4 - Funky White Honkies

For over 40 years, the Funky White Honkies have been the area’s top party band. They invade the Narrows for a big dance party. The tables and chairs will be removed for a large dance floor and a good time will be had by all.

Saturday, March 5 - David Wax Museum

Pioneering folk musicians David Wax and Suz Slezak are the plucky husband-wife duo behind the eclectic, exuberant “Mexo-Americana” band David Wax Museum. In addition to their national TV debut in 2019 on CBS This Morning: Saturday, the band has been featured in The New York Times, Rolling Stone, TIME Magazine and The New Yorker.

Saturday, March 12 - Eric Lindell

New Orleans-based singer/songwriter and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Eric Lindell melds West Coast rock, swampy Gulf Coast R&B, hard country and Memphis soul in a hybrid American roots music that, while thoroughly respectful of traditions, blazes a trail of its own.

Friday, March 18 - Jethro Tull's Martin Barre-Aqualung 50th Anniversary Tour

2021 was the 50th Anniversary of Jethro Tull’s legendary “Aqualung” album release. The live show touring worldwide and performed with the Martin Barre band will be playing the “Aqualung” album in full and in sequence, together with other massive Tull classics. The USA Tour will also include former Jethro Tull members Clive Bunker and Dee Palmer as part of the lineup.

Thursday, March 24 - Tommy Castro & the Painkillers' 30th anniversary tour ft. special guest Deanna Bogart

Friday, March 25 - The Duke Robillard Band CD Release Celebration

The Duke Robillard Band is set to release a new CD, “They Called It Rhythm & Blues,” on March 18. They will celebrate the release of the new album with a special show at the Narrows Center on March 25. Duke Robillard has been defined as not merely a great artist, but also a true historian, scholar and curator who is adept at electric and acoustic blues, jazz, jump, swing, ballads and standards.

Saturday, March 26 - Los Lobos

Los Lobos has sold millions of records, won prestigious awards and made fans around the world. But perhaps its most lasting impact will be how well its music embodies the idea of America as a cultural melting pot. In it, styles like son jarocho, norteño, Tejano, folk, country, doo-wop, soul, R&B, rock 'n' roll and punk all come together to create a new sound that’s greater than the sum of its parts.

Wednesday, March 30 & Thursday, March 31 - Tab Benoit

In 1992 Tab Benoit released his first recording “Nice and Warm” on the Justice Label. The title track became a AAA Radio hit and Benoit’s touring career kicked into high gear. “Nice and Warm” prompted comparisons to blues guitar heavyweights like Albert King, Albert Collins and even Jimi Hendrix.

Nineteen on Paper is a group of New England artists who come together to create and exhibit works of art of, on, or with paper. Members are painters, collage artists, printmakers, book artists, photographers, digital artists, and sculptors. The mission of 19 on Paper is to promote an appreciation of art created on or with paper through exhibitions and portfolios and to provide for sharing, networking, and professional growth among its members.

“The Heart of the Story: Illustrated Adventures of Creatures Real and Imagined”

Three local artists, Linda Bourke, Nancy Cote and Thea Ernest, explore the ways in which illustration illuminates a story, imbuing it with heart, humor, and humanity.
