NASA Launches Artemis Moon Rocket From Florida

NASA launched the Artemis 1 mission in the early hours of Wednesday, November 16, the first in a series of missions to build a long-term human presence at the moon.

Artemis 1, launched from the Kennedy Space Center, is an uncrewed flight test with a mission duration of over 25 days. During the flight, the Orion spacecraft will launch and fly farther than any spacecraft built for humans has ever flown, NASA said.

NASA said the primary goals for Artemis I are to demonstrate Orion’s systems in a spaceflight environment and ensure a safe re-entry, descent, splashdown, and recovery before the first flight with crew on Artemis II.
