We’re getting a look at the spacesuits astronauts on Florida’s Space Coast will wear during NASA’s return to the moon.

NASA is partnering with Axiom Space and Collins Aerospace to develop the suits for its Artemis missions.

“With these awards, NASA and our partners will develop advanced, reliable spacesuits that allow humans to explore the cosmos unlike ever before,” said Vanessa Wyche, director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. “By partnering with industry, we are efficiently advancing the necessary technology to keep Americans on a path of successful discovery on the International Space Station and as we set our sights on exploring the lunar surface.”

The agency still needs to launch an uncrewed mission around the moon before it can send astronauts back to the lunar surface.

NASA said its goal is to provide safe, reliable, and effective capabilities that allow astronauts to survive and work outside the confines of a spacecraft to maintain the space station and explore the areas on and around the Moon.

A final dress rehearsal for that mission is set to begin next week.
