SOUTH CAROLINA (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Chris Hacker, who is a part-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series driver, is hospitalized following a serious crash on the way to Daytona, his team shared on Thursday.

According to Chris Hacker Motorsports, while on his way to Daytona Wednesday afternoon, the 24-year-old was involved in an accident. They said a semi-truck had crossed the center lane and struck Hacker’s Mustang head-on.

“Chris was transported to Prisma Health Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina, where he underwent emergency surgery. Although a CT scan showed numerous injuries, he’s now in stable condition and is expected to have a full recovery,” CHM said.

CHM said that Hacker is in good spirits and his family has flown to South Carolina to be with him. He will remain in the hospital while he recovers, they said.

“He appreciates everyone’s thoughts and prayers and looks forward to a speedy recovery and getting back to the track,” CHM said on Thursday.

In August 2023, Hacker was charged with DWI and other traffic-related offenses after Huntersville Police said they had pulled him over for excessive speeding on I-77 North.

Hacker was suspended from NASCAR over the summer before he was reinstated in October.

On the day of the accident, Hacker had shared on social media that he was six months sober.

“6 months sober, 6 months healthy. I can’t thank everyone who’s supported me along the way enough,” he said.
