NASCAR has reinstated Cody Ware, lifting an indefinite suspension after the third-generation driver made headlines for an arrest near Charlotte.

The Cup Series driver was suspended indefinitely in April after being held on a felony charge of “assault by strangulation — inflict serious injury” and a misdemeanor charge of “assault on female,” NASCAR said, by the Iredell County Sherriff’s Office. Those charges have since been dropped, NASCAR announced Tuesday afternoon.

Ware, who has raced in the Cup Series since 2017, made seven starts in the No. 51 Rick Ware Racing Ford before his suspension last year. His best finish in 97 starts was sixth at Daytona in August 2022.
