NASCAR SPEEDWEEK AT DAYTONA: How to watch Friday's Craftsman Truck Series NextEra Energy 250

DAYTONA BEACH — The first NASCAR race of the 2023 season with points on the line will come in the Craftsman Truck Series with the NextEra Energy 250 at Daytona on Friday night.

Slated for 100 laps, the field will be whittled down from 42 to 40 during qualifying, slated for 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon before the race that night. Two teams will not make the race.

Defending event and series champion Zane Smith is back with four drivers — Smith, Travis Pastrana, Chase Elliott and Corey Lajoie — attempting to run in both the truck race and Sunday's Daytona 500.

FYI: In each of the last two years, the winner of the NextEra Energy 250 went on to win the series title with Smith doing it last year and Ben Rhodes pulling the trick in 2021. Six different winners have gone to Victory Lane in the event in the last six years.
