By now, most of the 24-car field is confirmed for Sunday night’s NASCAR All-Star race at Texas Motor Speedway. The non-points exhibition includes three 25-lap heats, followed by the $1 million-to-win main event for 50 laps.
Twenty drivers are locked into the grid. They include full-time drivers with previous All-Star victories, former Cup Series champions with full-time rides, and points race winners during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
The winners of the 20-, 20-, and 10-lap All-Star Open races will expand the grid to 23. (The Open races are for full-time Cup Series drivers not otherwise eligible). The 24th starter will be the driver selected by the NASCAR Fan Vote, which began several months ago and concludes Friday at noon.
Race officials will announce the Fan Vote choice on Sunday night, shortly before the 8 p.m. start of the main event. They have, however, said that going into this week Daniel Suarez, Erik Jones, Tyler Reddick, and Corey Lajoie were the leading vote-getters.
