Nashville Election 2023 Results: See who won your Metro Council district seats
While 16 incumbents in the Metro Council were reelected Thursday and 14 new members will join Nashville's legislative body as district members, the council's final makeup will not be decided until next month, as three of the races are headed to a runoff. In two races, candidates, including an incumbent, led by fewer than 75 votes each.

Here's a breakdown of the district council results:
Familiar faces
Nine incumbent district council members faced challengers, while another nine ran unopposed. District 10 incumbent Zach Young, who represents Goodlettsville, was defeated by challenger Jennifer Frensley Webb, who earned 55% of the vote.
"Tonight did not go the way I had hoped. After working hard to earn another term representing District 10, I came up short," Young conceded in a tweet at 8:04 p.m. "I want to thank everyone who helped my campaign and everyone I was able to serve the last four years. It has been an incredible experience and I look forward to remaining a visible presence in our community."
Other incumbents successfully defended their seats or held leads.
District 5: Incumbent Sean Parker defeated challenger Terri Laine Klingner
District 7: Incumbent Emily Benedict defeated challenger Danny Williams
District 9: Incumbent Tonya Hancock held a narrow 34-vote lead on challenger Stephanie Montenegro as of 9:43 p.m.
District 16: Incumbent Ginny Welsch defeated challenger Alexa Little
District 18: Incumbent Tom Cash defeated challenger Angus Purdy
District 21: Incumbent Brandon Taylor defeated challenger Jamel Campbell-Gooch
District 23: Incumbent Thom Druffel defeated challenger Lisa Williams
District 31: Incumbent John Rutherford defeated challenger Dia Hart
Nine unopposed incumbents were reelected on Thursday.

New faces
In 17 district council races, no incumbent was on the ballot. Two new council members ran unopposed: Sheri Weiner in District 22 and Brenda Gadd in District 24. They won their elections Thursday.
Twelve more newcomers defeated opponents Thursday to win their seats or held leads:
District 1: Joy Kimbrough defeated Ruby Baker, Sean Dailey, Rob Harris, Timothy Thompson.
District 6: Clay Capp defeated Brandes Holcomb, Daniel McDonell
District 8: Deonte Harrell held a 62-vote lead over Martez Coleman as of 9:44 p.m.
District 14: Jordan Huffman defeated Rudolph Mamula.
District 15: Jeff Gregg defeated Dan Jones.
District 17: Terry Vo defeated Tonya Esquibel and Teaka Jackson.
District 19: Jacob Kupin defeated Jasper Hendricks and Jonathan Turner
District 20: Rollin Horton defeated Scott Gillihan.
District 25: Jeff Preptit defeated David Ackerman and Rolando Toyos.
District 28: David Benton defeated Travis London
District 34: Sandy Ewing defeated Luke Austin Elliot.
District 35: Jason Spain defeated Carson Smart.
Three council district races go to runoff
Three Metro Council district races will be decided in runoffs on Sept. 14.
District 4: Davette Blalock (42.2%) will face off against Mike Cortese (40.6%) in September, while opponent Brian Sullivan was eliminated from the race.
District 11: Jeff Eslick (38%) will face Eric Patton (36%), while Joe DeLucas and Sherard Edington were eliminated.
District 29: Tasha Ellis (44.4%) will face off against John Reed (23.6%), while candidates Jama Mohamed and Michele Vetter were eliminated.
