9 a.m. update:

Wildfire crews are now assisting the Nashville Fire Department as it works to manage the ongoing bushfire on Gourley Road, near the Cheatham and Davidson County line.

Bulldozers from the Tennessee Dept of Agriculture's Division of Forestry program are now on the scene to help condense burning items and help contain the blaze, the department announced shortly before 9 a.m. Additionally, Nashville's Emergency Operations Center is building fire lines to contain burn-off in controlled zones.

Residents in the area can expect to see smoke from the area for a while, the department said.

Nashville firefighters continue to fight a bushfire on Gourley Road near the Cheatham and Davidson County line that started late Saturday night. No injuries have been reported.

Crews were dispatched to the area around 10 p.m. Saturday to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes.

The Nashville Fire Department said Sunday morning that it has requested specialized equipment to help contain the blaze.

The fire reportedly started in a wooded area on Gourley Road.

As of 6 a.m., crews continued to “surround and drown” the fire, the department reported on the social media site, X, formerly known as Twitter.
