Nashville officer shot with gun stolen from vehicle, expected to go home Tuesday

Metro Nashville Police Department data shows crime rate trends from 1963 through 2021.

Metro Nashville Police officer Donovan Coble is expected to go home Tuesday after being shot and admitted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center Thursday afternoon, according to MNPD Chief John Drake.

Drake said Coble was in stable condition while speaking at the Nashville Rotary Club's weekly Monday meeting.

"The only thing he was worried about was anyone saying anything bad about him," Drake said.

A man breaking into vehicles near Donelson Pike shot Coble and injured his liver, diaphragm and lung, Drake said.

Police later identified the man as Delama Casimir. He died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Drake said the gun Casimir used to shoot Coble was stolen from a vehicle.

Over 650 guns have been stolen in Davidson County this year, with 79% of those stolen from automobiles. Since 2018, 5,268 guns have been stolen from vehicles.
