A homicide investigation is underway after what Nashville police believe was a targeted shooting that left a man dead and a woman injured early Sunday morning.

Nelson Soto, 31, was found dead around 1:15 a.m. with multiple gunshot wounds in a Woodland Pointe Drive apartment complex parking lot, the Metro Nashville Police Department said. He was sitting in the driver's seat of a Kia Forte.

Soto's female acquaintance was a passenger in the Kia and was also shot, police said. She was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers can remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
