Nashville police have released the identity of a fatal shooting victim who drove to a gas station and collapsed Tuesday as they continue their investigation into what happened.

Joshua White, 34, died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center Tuesday evening, Metro Nashville Police said in a statement Wednesday morning.

White was shot somewhere else before he drove himself to the BP gas station on Old Hickory Boulevard at Eulala Drive in South Nashville at about 2 p.m.

"White got out of the car and told a passerby he was shot before collapsing on the ground," a police statement said.

White's car had front-end damage and a single bullet hole in the driver's side of the windshield. It was not clear where or when the shooting had taken place.

No arrests have been made and anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
