A man is dead following a brazen Monday morning shooting along Underwood Street just several blocks southeast of Fisk Park, Nashville police said.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the shooting took place along the street just off 22nd Avenue North about 10:20 a.m. and left Emmanuel Gordon, 58, dead.

The case is being investigated as a criminal homicide, police confirmed.

According to a preliminary investigation, a suspect in a small, four-door white vehicle with a missing front bumper pulled up to the victim as he was walking and shot him one time.

Police spokesperson Don Aaron said a witness reported the vehicle was a Ford Fiesta with heavy front-end damage.

The suspect then walked over to the man, stood over him and and shot him two more times.

The suspect then fled the scene.

The man who was shot was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, police reported.

"It would appear, based on initial circumstance, that this person was targeted," Aaron said. "There must be some type of personal issue between the shooter and the victim"

Just before noon, police said, the suspect remained at large.
