Nashville police: Woman shot multiple times, killed while fleeing argument

Nashville police arrested a man after his girlfriend was shot to death outside her apartment on South 6th Street in East Nashville.

Lewis Thomas II, 27, was charged with criminal homicide and evidence tampering after Latoria Mitchell, 27, was killed Friday night, police said.

Metro Nashville Police said Thomas and Mitchell were out at a local nightclub when they got into an argument during which he pushed her. Thomas was escroted out of the club, according to a statement from police.

Shortly before midnight, Thomas then drove to Mitchell's apartment in the 500 block of South 6th Street and briefly went inside. The couple had another argument inside and Mitchell fled outside, police said.

Thomas followed her and shot her multiple times, police said. He was arrested on James Robertson Parkway and during an interview with police "he implicated himself in the shooting and admitted to discarding a pistol in a wooded area," police said.

Thomas is being held without bond in the Downtown Detention Center.
