Matt Duchene, Filip Forsberg help push Nashville Predators past New Jersey Devils

Three times the New Jersey Devils took a lead Thursday against the Nashville Predators.

Three times the Nashville Predators tied the score.

Matt Duchene finally untied it 8 minutes, 49 seconds into the third period of what turned out to be a 6-4 victory for the Predators, their third win in a row and fifth in six games.

Jesper Bratt put the Devils ahead 1-0 with 9:41 left in the first.

Cody Glass tied the score with 7:36 left in the first with a power-play goal.

The tie was shortlived, thanks to Yegor Sharangovich’s score a little more than three minutes later.

Cole Smith answered right back for the Predators 23 seconds later when he tipped in Juuso Parssinen’s shot to tie it again, his second career goal.

The Devils took a third lead with 15:54 left in the second on Jack Hughes’ goal.

Mikael Granlund, though, responded with 8:27 left in the second to tie the score again, this time 3-3.

For good measure, Filip Forsberg added his 19th goal of the season with 3:55 left. Dawson Mercer pulled the Devils within one with 2:14 remaining in regulation during a 6-on-5. Tanner Jeannot's empty-net goal sealed the victory.

Predators goalie Juuse Saros stopped 36 shots.

The Devils had won seven of eight.

The Predators are 23-18-6. The Devils are 31-12-4.
