Nashville SC's Hany Mukhtar, Walker Zimmerman among 26 voted to 2022 MLS All-Star team

Hany Mukhtar and Walker Zimmerman will represent Nashville SC at the 2022 MLS All-Star Game in August.

Major League Soccer revealed the 26 players who will face Mexico's Liga MX All-Stars on Aug. 10 at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota (7:30 p.m., ESPN). Mukhtar earned his first all-star selection, while Zimmerman will return for a third straight appearance.

Mukhtar was snubbed in 2021 for an all-star honor, despite finishing second in the league MVP voting behind New England Revolution's Carles Gil. By the 2021 all-star selection, Mukhtar posted seven goals and four assists. That same time this season, Mukhtar has 10 goals and five assists. Only five MLS players are in double-digit goals.

Zimmerman further solidified his reputation as the best center back in MLS, entering the all-star week as two-time, reigning MLS Defender of the Year, placing in the 80th percentile or better in tackles, tackles won, successful pressures and clearances, according to Football Reference. Zimmerman has also scored one goal and an assist.

The 26 MLS All-Stars were selected in the following categories: fan, media and player voting (12), MLS All-Star and Minnesota United coach Adrian Heath (12) and MLS Commissioner Don Garber (2).

Standouts like reigning Golden Boot winner Valentín "Taty" Castellanos of New York City FC, Los Angeles FC's Carlos Vela and LA Galaxy's Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez will be joined by first-time all-stars: defender Alexander Callens and goalkeeper Sean Johnson of NYCFC. See the full roster below.
