Nashville area weather: Dickson hit with nearly 6 inches of rain. Williamson over 3 inches
Kentucky storms drifted into Nashville and Middle Tennessee and provided high rainfall amounts in some counties as amounts varied widely.
Northwest Middle Tennessee counties that include Stewart, Humphreys, Dickson and Houston reported 3-5 inches of rain around 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. Nashville International Airport was just under a half-inch of rain at 10 a.m.
Dickson, Tennessee had 5.91 inches through 10 a.m.
Areas of Franklin, Spring Hill and Thompson Station reported 3-4 inches.
McEwen 3.28 inches.
An area near Belle Meade reported 2.19 inches in last 24 hours, according to the weather service.
Mayfield, Kentucky reported 9.8 inches as of Wednesday morning. Other areas in the southwest portion of Kentucky also had rainfall amounts approaching 10 inches, National Weather Service meteorologist Krissy Hurley said.
The weather service did not report road closures in the Nashville area, though some ponding was occurring.
Rain is expected to taper off this afternoon and likely stop in time for the afternoon rush hour commute, Hurley said.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue to move into the area through the morning, potentially leading to flash flooding for some.
