Nashville weather: Middle Tennessee under flood watch

Middle Tennessee is under a flood watch until 1 p.m. as buckets of rain wash over the area Thursday.

"Heavier rain should exit the region by mid-day, but rain chances will still around until Saturday, mainly across southern Middle Tennessee and the Cumberland Plateau," the National Weather Service said.

No hazardous weather is expected during the day, the NWS said.

The NWS issued a flood watch for most of Middle Tennessee about 2 a.m. Thursday, but also issued a flood advisory for sever specific locations. Cheatham, Davison, Dickson, Hickman, Maury and Williamson counties are included in the advisory.

"Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected," the NWS said. "Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles."

The NWS specifically pointed out the areas that will experience flooding as: Franklin, Dickson, White Bluff, Kingston Springs, Thompson's Station, Pegram, Fairview, Leipers Fork, Natchez Trace at Highway 96, Big Turnbull Creek including areas near Liberty Hill, Brush Creek and Beaverdam Creek including Burns.
