Nassau Police Track Down Alleged Porch Pirate

Police say he was stealing packages from the same neighborhood during the holiday season.

Nassau County police arrested an alleged porch pirate on Thursday that they say was stealing packages from peoples' homes before the holidays.

Police were investigating the theft of several packages from homes in the North Woodmere area. They say they found that Kurt Stewart, 18, of 228th Street, Rosedale, was responsible for the following thefts:

  • Nov. 26 -- a home on Gilbert Place

  • Nov. 26 -- a home on Flanders Drive

  • Dec. 27 -- a home on Flanders Drive

  • Dec. 27 -- a home on Nutley Place

Stewart was arrested at his home on Thursday and charged with four counts of petty larceny. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.
