Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent Have Designed the Ultimate Nap Sofa

From House Beautiful

One of the most underrated qualities that the perfect sofa has is nap-ability—you know, the trait that transforms your sofa from just an okay place to sit to absolutely life-changing spot that you never want to get up from. Luckily, we've found that perfect sofa among Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent's third collection with Living Spaces.

"The problem with these sectionals is that you pass out within 10 minutes of sitting [on one]," Jeremiah Brent joked as we settled onto the middle of the enormous Marcel sectional. But, can one even call that a problem? The sinkable—yet supportive—quality of Nate and Jeremiah's sectional just makes it that much more attractive to homeowners looking for the perfect sofa.

To Jeremiah, the sofa is one of the most important pieces one has in their household. "The sofa is a really important investment for anybody, and I don't mean financially," he said. "You need to find a really great sofa that can transition with you, and you can build from there."

The design duo's newest collection with Living Spaces isn't a wildly avant-garde concept piece that stands out from other furniture—but that's the point. "We designed a collection to blend seamlessly with what people are already working with," Nate said. He described it in three words, summing up the qualities of furniture that almost all of us are on the lookout for: accessible, luxurious, and transitional.

Created with style and livability in mind, these designs aren't meant to be focal pieces of the room or something that stands out. They're supposed to work with any kind of style—whatever your own personal style may be.

"The pieces are designed to be mixed and matched, and layered in with what people already live with, and love," Nate and Jeremiah explained. "Every detail mattered. We went through a rigorous design process...from the curve of a back to the height of an arm, we were a part of each piece from its inception to the final collection you see now.”

Besides the fact that Nate and Jeremiah's newest collection is literally bringing comfy back, it's also taking a new spin on one of today's most popular trends: jewel tones.

"Jewel tones are a huge trend right now, so we tried to reinterpret that in our way, and what that feels like," Jeremiah said. "[Our] emerald green is more of a mossy, softer green, and even the blush that we have on the slipper chairs feels a lot more subtle and like something you'd see in crushed velvet."

On-trend yet timeless? It's a hard balance to strike, but with their latest collectio, Nate and Jeremiah have found it.
