Nation’s burger restaurant in Sacramento closes after worker tests positive for COVID-19

Nation’s Giant Hamburgers in Sacramento, which had its grand opening three weeks ago, was temporarily closed this week after an employee tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

The burger restaurant chain announced on its Facebook page Wednesday that “out of an abundance of caution” the restaurant was closed to allow all of its employees to be tested for the virus.

The restaurant, on Truxel Road in Sacramento’s North Natomas neighborhood, has undergone a “thorough sanitizing and deep cleaning by specialists,” according to the Facebook post.

“Fortunately the employee followed (U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidance by staying home at the first signs of feeling sick and promptly self-quarantined,” the Nation’s Facebook post said. “Based on the employee’s role, we believe there were no meaningful interactions with customers during his (or) her shifts.”

Representatives with the restaurant company said the last time this employee worked in the restaurant was more than a week ago, but they did not specify the employee’s job.

The employees who have been tested as of Wednesday afternoon have tested negative for the virus. The Nation’s restaurant in Natomas expects to reopen this weekend, according to the Facebook post.

The restaurant opened in Natomas for to-go and delivery orders May 19 and had not yet started offering dine-in service, according to The Natomas Buzz, the news outlet that first reported the restaurant’s temporary closure Wednesday.
