National Apple Harvest Festival in Adams County named among best fall festivals nationwide

The National Apple Harvest festival in Adams County was named by USA Today readers as one of the 10 Best Fall Festivals.

The festival, a staple of Adams County for 58 years, features more than 300 arts and craft vendors; offers a variety of food, including homemade applesauce; pony rides, hayrides, orchard tours and more, according to the website.

Every year, the National Apple Harvest Festival takes place at the South Mountain Fairgrounds at 615 Narrows Road, in Arendtsville. The festival is held the first two weekends of October, and this year will take place October 7 and 8 for the first weekend, and October 14 and 15 for the second weekend.

The hours for the festival are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
