National chain that had an uncertain Wichita future now celebrating grand reopening

When last we checked with David’s Bridal, the future of the Wichita store was uncertain.

Now, the store at Eastgate Plaza, at Kellogg and Rock Road, is celebrating a grand reopening.

“The updated layout better highlights our expansive range of beautiful dresses, with a style for every bride, her bridesmaids, friends, family, and more – while still elevating the bridal area,” said an e-mailed statement from Kelly Cook, president of brand, technology and finance.

Last summer, as the Pennsylvania chain pursued bankruptcy, the Wichita David’s Bridal was one of 225 stores that were up for auction.

The company ended up selling to Cion Investment Corp. and was able to keep almost 200 stores open, including the one at Eastgate Plaza.

The store was closed for a bit for remodeling and updating, but it’s back open and is celebrating a grand reopening on Thursday.

In addition to selling wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses, the chain also performs alterations and sells accessories, such as veils and jewelry. The chain also has what it calls Shine and Shimmer Shops within the stores that sell “the latest sparkly handbags and shoes.”
