National Charity League honors 30 Lubbock high school seniors

The National Charity League honored 30 of its debutantes with a High School Senior Recognition Banquet Saturday at Lubbock Country Club.

The young women’s predecessors were called ticktockers because they came to a work site where their mothers were doing volunteer work for the community, and they had nothing to do except watch the clock, according to A-J Media archives.

That has changed, and a new generation of ticktockers volunteer their own work along with that of their mothers. These young women have been serving as volunteers since seventh grade.

The Patronesses and Ticktockers in the class of 2024 have contributed thousands of hours to the Lubbock community.

They have devoted their time to numerous philanthropies. Ticktockers have worked side by side with their mothers, made new friends, stepped out of their comfort zones, and become leaders in the community.

The three pillars of National Charity League are community service, leadership development and cultural experiences.
