Now, it’s time to honor Fido.

Aug. 26 is National Dog Day. Yep, they get their own day, too.

Those beloved four-legged friends can be loved on extra hard on their day. Take them on a nice long walk, get them groomed, feed them extra treats.

Oh, and we have a few dog-friendly restaurants you might want to take them to.

Keep in mind, however, that the state of New Jersey obviously has rules on the subject of pets in restaurants. For the most part, they can’t come inside of the restaurants, with limited exceptions such as service animals, guide dogs, patrol dogs. But many are allowed in the patio or outdoor area of restaurants.

A piece of advice: Always check ahead before taking your pet along with you.

Here are five dog-friendly restaurants in South Jersey:

Good Dog Bar, Atlantic City

The neighborhood bar has thrived in Philadelphia for years and recently opened up a location in Atlantic City.

Like the name implies, good dogs are welcomed to join their family members in the outdoor patio area.

The bar features some artwork that pictures, you guessed it, dogs.

Some hand-crafted cocktails are named after dogs. How about the Dog Daze of Summer?

Jon and Patty’s Coffee Bar and Bistro, Ocean City

Breakfast, sandwiches, seafood, and coffee drinks are served at this lively café.

Established in 2008, its known for its breakfast tacos, Buffalo shrimp lettuce wraps, “Nutty” chicken salad sandwich and more.

Your beloved four-legged friend is also a welcomed addition at the eclectic café.

Marino’s of Mullica Hill, Mullica Hill

The Italian restaurant features menu items that include locally grown produce.

Patrons at the Mullica Hill Commons shopping center can indulge in everything from pizza, sandwiches, salads, wings, soup and more. Have you heard of a lobster pizza pie?

Rusty Nail, Cape May

This surfer bar and restaurant is known locally as “The Nail” and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Indoor and outdoor firepits are featured and kids’ meals are served on a souvenir beach shack frisbee.

Four-legged friends are invited to join in the fun, which includes live entertainment.

No. 79 bar, Hammonton

The bar and restaurant had a grand-opening party planned on Aug. 25 for its new dog-friendly “outback”.

The establishment was founded by two soccer moms, its website says, who combined their love for “design, innovation, restoration and hospitality.”

The menu has "fresh homemade products and recipes", including kielbasa, pierogie and sauces. Their menu is described as Polish-Italian fusion with a twist on classic bar foods.

Newspapers from 1920 to 1940 were used as wallpaper throughout the inside bar area, it says.

The “outback” area includes a 20-seat bar, extended patio seating, firepits and an area for bands to perform.
