National Donut Day: Some of the best donuts in the country are right here in metro Atlanta
Friday is National Donut Day and Channel 2 Action News has learned that five of the country’s Top 100 donut shops are right here in metro Atlanta.
Yelp put together its list for 2023 and it appears that Marietta is a hotbed for delicious donuts. Here’s how metro Atlanta’s shops fared:
Ray’s Donuts in Marietta at No. 43
Dough in the Box Donuts in Marietta at No. 68
Dev’s Donuts in Marietta at No. 82
Hell Yeah Gluten Free in Atlanta at No. 83
Marietta Donuts in Marietta at No. 91
“The country’s top donut makers are crafting the beloved comfort food in exciting new ways,” Yelp said.

“From old-fashioned frosted classics to bacon-topped maple creams, and trendy Hawaiian-style donuts with ube-flavored glaze,” the metro’s donuts shops are above and beyond to fight for the best donuts around.
“The shops landed on the national list after Yelp said it studied doughnut-related businesses across the country. The website then “ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews” that customers left from January 2022 to March 2023. The results were published before National Doughnut Day, which falls on June 2 this year,” the Macon Telegraph reports.
Overall, the No. 1 doughnut shop in the country was Rocklin Donuts & Cinnamon near Sacramento, California.
