It's National Donut Day — where are you getting your doughnut fix?

South Jersey is growing its doughnut footprint, one mochi doughnut at a time.

This National Donut Day, which lands on Friday, get excited for two new additions coming to Cherry Hill.

This summer, Mochinut will open in Crossroads Plaza, next door to a Rita’s of Cherry Hill and near the Ammon Mediterranean Market. (Owner Kevin Nguyen recently told the Courier Post that he plans to open another Mochinut in Voorhees in four months or so.) And Mochi Ring will open a location in Cherry Hill as well.

Both shops will offer the ring-shaped doughnut with its soft, chewy interior. The doughnut is made with short-grain rice flour, which gives it that “chewy and stretchy” texture, water, sugar and cornstarch.

“There is an alluring sticky addictiveness to each bite; a textural element that is completely different from yeast or cake donuts,” Mochinut’s website shares.

Mochinut doughnut flavors include black sugar, banana milk, red velvet, peanut butter, mango and many more. Mochi Ring offers flavors like churro, brown sugar milk tea, taro, Oreo, ube (purple yams) and others.

Guests also can find Korean hot dogs (similar to corndogs) and bubble tea drinks on the menu at both stores.

Go: 871 Cooper Landing Road, Cherry Hill

While you wait for mochi doughnuts to make their way to South Jersey, there are plenty of other doughnuts — or donuts, if you prefer — to celebrate the day set aside nationally for this crave-worthy sweet.

Here are a few suggestions, including where to score a freebie.
