The Chiefs will play their first game following their bye week on Sunday, which is usually a good sign for Kansas City’s chances.

In his career, Chiefs coach Andy Reid has a 19-3 record following his team’s bye week. That’s an .864 winning percentage, but one of those three losses has come against the Denver Broncos

Will the Broncos do it again?

NFL writers and broadcasters aren’t bullish on Denver’s chances. Here is what 58 pundits are saying about the game, which kicks off at 7:20 p.m. and will be broadcast on KSHB (Ch. 41).

A 34-20 Chiefs victory is the prediction from Yardbarker’s Chris Mueller. This is a passage from his story: “Outburst against the Raiders aside, the Chiefs still haven’t rediscovered their offensive identity, but they’ve been aided on this four-game winning streak by a defense that suddenly looks terrific. Kansas City has held four straight opponents under 20 points and hasn’t given up more than 301 total yards in any of those games. If the Chiefs have really figured something out on that side, the rest of the AFC could be in big trouble.”

A 27-20 Chiefs win is the call from Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com. Here is part of what he wrote: “I have no clue what I’m going to get from either the Chiefs’ offense or the Broncos’ defense, two of the highest-variance units in the NFL. An improving Denver pass rush suggests that the best way to beat the Broncos is to run at their lightweight crew and avoid their talented secondary. Andy Reid, however, is not a man to do the obvious, especially coming off a bye.”

A 28-20 victory for the Chiefs is the call from Bill Bender of the Sporting News. Here is part of his story: “The Chiefs had a bye week, and the Broncos had an impressive victory against the Chargers. That sets up what should be a fun matchup between the AFC West rivals.”

A 30-17 Chiefs win is the prediction from Ben Rolfe of Pro Football Network. This is a snippet from his story: “Vic Fangio is 0-4 against the Chiefs as Denver head coach. Only once has the game been decided by one score or less. This should be another comfortable Chiefs victory, and one Kansas City should cover barring any post-bye-week sloppiness.”

A Chiefs victory is the prediction from both Pro Football Talk writers. Michael David Smith predicted a 24-21 final. He wrote: “This is the Broncos’ last, best chance to put themselves in position to win the AFC West. I think they’re going to fall short.” Mike Florio sees a 31-21 score. He wrote: “The Chiefs have the division lead in hand, and the No. 1 seed within their grasp.”

All eight writers for CBS Sports picked the Chiefs to win: Pete Prisco, Jason LaCanfora, John Breech, Will Brinson, Jared Dubin, Jamey Eisenberg, Ryan Wilson and Dave Richard. Prisco predicted a 31-17 score. Here is an excerpt of what he wrote: “Kansas City got its season back on track before the bye, so it has to hope the delay didn’t derail that. I don’t think it did. The defense is playing much better, and the Chiefs will limit the Broncos offense.”

Seven of the eight Athletic writers believe the Chiefs will prevail: Ben Standig, Jay Morrison, Michael-Shawn Dugar, Chris Burke, Tashan Reed, Katherine Terrell and Nick Kosmider. Picking the Broncos is Mark Kaboly. This is an excerpt from the Athletic story: “The Chiefs kept Dallas out of the end zone and held the Cowboys below 300 yards. We know that a Patrick Mahomes-led team can put up points in bunches. If the defense can build off of what it did against Dallas, Kansas City’s Super Bowl odds are going to shorten quickly. ”

Ten of 11 pundits at ESPN see the Chiefs winning: Emmanuel Acho, Mike Clay, Domonique Foxworth, Dan Graziano, Damien Woody, Laura Rutledge, Kevin Seifert, Matt Bowen, Rob Ninkovich and Seth Wickersham. The lone choice for Denver came from Jeremy Fowler.

Each of the seven writers at USA Today picked the Chiefs: Jarrett Bell (30-20 final score), Nate Davis (24-17), Jori Epstein (24-17), Mike Freeman (27-20), Mike Jones (27-22), Mike Middlehurst-Schwartz (34-21) and Lorenzo Reyes (25-19).

Four of five Sports Illustrated writers went with the Chiefs: Albert Breer, Gary Grammling, Jenny Vrenta and Mitch Goldich. Going with Denver: Conor Orr.

The Chiefs will win, say four writers for The Star: Herbie Teope, Sam McDowell, Sam Mellinger and Vahe Gregorian.

A Chiefs victory is the prediction from all five Audacy writers: Jordan Cohn, Tim Kelly, Jesse Pantuosco, John Healy and Dan Mennella.

A Chiefs victory is the call for the four Athlon Sports writers: Bryan Fischer, Ben Weinrib, Rob Doster and Aaron Wilson.
