There couldn't be a more perfect national day for New Bedford than National Fried Scallop Day! Scallops straight from the boat are a delicacy to the SouthCoast and they are a favorite among people of all ages. This makes National Fried Scallop Day on Oct. 2 a day to celebrate those glorious nuggets from the sea.

You can get them prepared in many different ways and put them in a variety of dishes, but there's something about having them battered and perfectly fried that just hits the spot.

Fried scallops are sold all over the area but here are a few spots worth checking out in the Greater New Bedford area:

The Seafood Hut has Scallops for every size appetite with a small scallops plate and a large scallop plate both are served with with French fries, coleslaw, and tartar sauce.
