Four tropical waves are on the radar for the National Hurricane Center, but the tropics remain relatively quiet.

August opens the most active season traditionally for hurricanes in the Atlantic. Sept. 10 is considered the peak of hurricane season, which lasts from June 1 through Nov. 30.

It's been 12 days since Hurricane Don dissipated into a post-tropical cyclone, the most recent named storm in the Atlantic. The next storms to be named would be Emily and Franklin.
