Will August be able to stave off a named storm for two more days, even as the National Hurricane Center watches two disturbances with the potential of becoming tropical depressions this week?

If so, August 2022 will join 1961 and 1997 as years with no tropical storms or hurricanes in the Atlantic basin.

"We’re only a few days away from this month becoming the third August ever to not have a named tropical system in the Atlantic basin," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham.
