National Night Out in Erie County is Aug. 2. Here's where you can get in on the fun

The United Way of Erie County since 2004 has supported National Night Out events in high-need neighborhoods including 16 scheduled for Aug. 2 around the Erie area.

The United Way notes "These events seek to promote the spirit of community and encourage everyone to play a role in supporting the education of youth in our neighborhoods. Neighborhood events will feature free food, music and games, along with the opportunity to interact with local police and fire departments."

Wallace Park, East 36th and Wallace streets, 5-8 p.m. Sponsored by Bayside East Side Task Force in partnership with Youth Leadership Institute of Erie and Bayfront Neighborhood Watch.

Belle Valley Fire Department, 1514 Norcross Road, 5-7 p.m.

Diehl Elementary School, 2327 Fairmount Parkway, in partnership with Mercyhurst University, 5-7 p.m.

East Middle School, 1001 Atkins St., 4-7 p.m.

Edison Elementary School, 1921 East Lake Road, in partnership with Boys & Girls Club of Erie, 4-7 p.m.

Elk Valley Elementary School, 2556 Maple Ave., Lake City. Also organized by Elk Valley Elementary PTO, Elk Creek Recreation & Leisure Board, Rice Avenue Community Library and Love Inc. of West Erie County, 5-8 p.m.

Erie Heights gazebo, off Garden Avenue at West 38th Street. Organized by Erie Housing Authority, YMCA of Greater Erie, GECAC, SafeNet and the Multicultural Community Resource Center, 5-8 p.m.

Greene Township building, 9333 Tate Road. Organized by Greene Township and Kuhl Hose Co., 6-8 p.m.
