National retailer remodels one of its Wichita stores
The remodeled Walmart Supercenter at 501 E. Pawnee was unveiled on Friday.
In a release, the chain said it has transformed the space with more self-checkout lanes and remodeled bathrooms, including an updated mother’s room.
The front of the store also has a new area for grab-and-go food.
“We know that speed and convenience are important to our Kansas customers, so we are continuously looking for new ways to meet their needs,” said store manager Michael Haskew in a statement. “By remodeling our stores and expanding time-saving services, such as Grab & Go areas and Grocery Pickup, we are making shopping easier for busy families.”
Other upgrades include displays that allow customers to touch and experience products.
There also are what the chain called digital touchpoints where customers can scan QR codes to learn more about products and items related to them.
The store is continuing to offer pickup and delivery along with the new express delivery for an extra cost.
The store also has a new mural by Emily Alvarez, a local artist.
A release called the mural “an eye-catching piece that reflects the diversity and local cultures of Wichita, and is part of Walmart’s Community Mural Program, the largest public-facing art installation celebrating communities across America.”
