National signing day: Pahokee star DeeJay Holmes Jr. signs with Ole Miss

Pahokee star DeeJay Holmes Jr. is headed to the Southeastern Conference.

Holmes announced he was signing with Ole Miss on Wednesday night in a ceremony in Pahokee while surrounded by family, friends and supporters.

The 2022 Palm Beach Post Defensive Player of the Year, Holmes set school records for sacks over the final two seasons of his varsity career.

He was a national leader with 32.5 sacks his senior season and closed his varsity career with 52.0 total sacks.

Holmes is a three-star prospect according to 247 Sports and holds 20 total offers, including Colorado, Purdue, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and Western Kentucky.

He was the No. 1 player in The Post's annual Super 11, which ranks the top seniors in Palm Beach County, prior to the 2022 high school football seasons.

"DeeJay means the world to our program," Pahokee football head coach Emmanuel Hendrix said prior to the 2022 season. "His play and leadership can't be measured."

At Ole Miss, Holmes will join head coach Lane Kiffin, who signed a four-year contract extension in November 2022. Ole Miss finished 8-5 last season.
