National sporting goods outlet plans grand opening this weekend for Louisville-area store

Academy Sports + Outdoors is letting new customers indoors this week as it opens another store in the Louisville area.

The new Academy Sports + Outdoors in Jeffersonville, at 1600 Veterans Parkway, is set to host a grand opening this weekend to commemorate the opening at a shopping center in the Southern Indiana City. It'll mark the third location for the sporting goods chain in the region, joining an outlet at Louisville's Jefferson Mall (4901 Outer Loop) and a store in Middletown at 13401 Shelbyville Road. It's the sixth of nine planned openings for the Texas-based retailer this year around the country.

“Academy Sports + Outdoors is excited to serve the Jeffersonville and Clarksville communities and provide customers the gear that makes having fun easy and affordable,” said Sam Johnson, Academy’s Executive Vice President of Retail Operations. “We look forward to helping the customers explore their sports and outdoor passions, whether that is biking across Big Four Bridge, taking a hike in Clark State Forest or gearing up for the next hunting season.”

The new store will bring customers to the Jeffersonville Town Center, a shopping center with several other stores that have opened within the past year, including Hobby Lobby, Burlington, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods and Five Below.

"No matter the hunting, fishing, or camping occasion, local outdoor enthusiasts can depend on Academy’s knowledgeable team members, wide assortment of products, top brands, and unbeatable price points that fit any budget," a release from the company said.
