Monday was National Tequila Day, and this brand is the favorite in Kansas

Every day is National Something Day, and Monday, July 24 is National Tequila Day.

In honor of the holiday, website Casinos.com is sharing information from a study it conducted that shows which tequila brand is the most popular in each state.

Kansas, it turns out, is a crowd follower and is listed as one of 19 states whose tequila drinkers prefer Jose Cuervo. Among the neighboring states that also did were Oklahoma, Colorado and Arkansas, and some of the country’s largest states are also Cuervo drinkers, including California and Texas.

Missouri and Nebraska, however, were among 12 states whose residents preferred Don Julio, and if you’re going to Florida, Washington or six other states for vacation, prepare to encounter Patron.

The other twelve states — including Alaska, Hawaii and New York —were reported by the study to be inhabited by Casamigos drinkers.

Casinos.com said it put the data together by studying Google Trends and The Spirits Business magazine’s list of biggest selling tequila brands. The study analyzed which brands people were searching for the most in each state over 90 days. The top four brands emerged, and the study then ranked each brand by search volume.

Tequila consumption has increased significantly in recent years, reports say, especially as a growing number of celebrities — including Kendall Jenner, Lebron James and Kevin Hart — have launched their own tequila brands. Casamigos, in fact, is co-owned by George Clooney.

Many local restaurants and bars have also begun expanding their tequila lines and are making the drink a central focus. Wichita is still waiting on the opening of a new bar and restaurant dedicated to tequila: Itzcali Tapas & Tequila, which has been under construction for two years, should open this fall, its owner says.
