National Voter Registration Day kicks off registration drives across Springfield

Polling location Delaware Elementary had only 75 voters cast ballots by 1 PM during the municipal election on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023.

Tuesday marks National Voter Registration Day, and Springfield and Greene County community partners are gearing up for events to encourage eligible residents to register ahead of local elections and the primary and general elections in 2024.

Starting Tuesday and running throughout the week, 10 events will be hosted across the community by a coalition of community partners. This coalition includes the League of Women Voters of Southwest Missouri, Missouri State University’s Paws to the Polls, NAACP and the Greene County Clerk’s Office, according to a Greene County news release.

The events will also help those who may need to update their registration after a move. The deadline to be registered to vote is 28 days before any given election. To check your voter registration, visit the Missouri Secretary of State's website.
