National Waffle Day: Restaurants and cafes around Charlotte serving the best waffles

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day — and if it’s also your favorite one of the day, you’re in for a treat.

Thursday, Aug. 24 is National Waffle Day. The iconic sweet treat, which has been around for centuries, is a popular breakfast staple eaten around the world.

Luckily in Charlotte, there are plenty of places to celebrate the holiday, whether you want waffles plain, topped with fruit, fried chicken or even lobster. Here’s a guide to some of the best restaurants and cafes around town to check out on National Waffle Day.

Cast Iron Waffles

Cuzzo’s Cuisine

Cuzzo’s Cuisine, known for its Southern staples and comfort food, has several waffle dishes on the menu. While its Tuckaseegee location is temporarily closed, you can still treat yourself to the beloved breakfast treat in University City. The Charlotte food truck serves buttermilk waffles on a popsicle stick with different sweet toppings, like the s’mores waffle, cinnamon roll waffle and the Fruity Pebbles and the Nutella strawberry waffles.
