National Weather Service calling for high winds Saturday in Hagerstown, Greencastle

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch for the Tri-State area on Saturday, cautioning that gusts could reach 60 mph to 65 mph.

The watch is in effect from 8 a.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday for a region that includes Washington County, West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle, and Franklin and Fulton counties in Pennsylvania, according to the online weather service post.

West winds in the Maryland and West Virginia area could reach 30 mph to 40 mph and gusts could get as high as 65 mph.

In Southcentral Pennsylvania, winds are forecast to be 25 mph to 35 mph and gusts could be as high as 60 mph.

The weather service cautions that damaging winds could bring down trees and power lines, leading to outages.

Travel also could be difficult, particularly for taller vehicles.

What about temperatures, rain?

It's that time of year when the days can get pretty warm, but the nights are still rather cold.

The high forecasted for the region on Saturday is around 73 degrees, while the low Saturday night is forecasted to be around 36 degrees, according to weather.gov.

There is a greater chance of rain Friday night in Washington County and nearby West Virginia, with the heaviest rain expected from 6 to 8 p.m., said meteorologist Luis Rosa with the weather service's Baltimore/Washington forecast office.

The rain should end by late Saturday morning.
