Native American celebration features hoop dance

With help from her family, Jackie Bird presents a hoop dance to attendees at the Johnson Fine Arts Center at Northern Thursday evening. The dance is an expression of healing and the circle of life. She uses 38 hoops to tell the story of creation. This evening's presentation was the final event celebrating Native American Heritage Month and was jointly sponsored by Northern, Presentation College and Central High School's Native American Student Association.
