STORY: Speaking ahead of a meeting of the Ukraine defense contact group at Ramstein air base in Germany, he also told reporters that, once the war in Ukraine ends, Kyiv must have "the deterrence to prevent new attacks."

Stoltenberg's comments came after a visit to Ukraine's capital Kyiv on Thursday (April 20) where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. Zelenskiy said it was time for the military alliance to offer his country membership and that Kyiv needed more weapons to fight Russia during the visit.
