Natomas hit-and-run leaves bicyclist with ‘substantial’ head injuries, Sacramento police say

A bicyclist was hospitalized Thursday with a “substantial” head injury after a vehicle struck him in a Natomas neighborhood and fled the scene, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

A 50-year-old man was struck at the intersection of Natomas Boulevard and North Bend Drive, according to archived radio dispatches. Officers responded shortly after 11:30 a.m. to the scene, which borders North Natomas Regional Park and a busy shopping complex.

Police found the victim in the road and he was taken to UC Davis Medical Center, according to radio dispatches.

The Sacramento Police Department in a social media post just before 12:30 p.m. said southbound Natomas Boulevard was closed at the intersection and asked motorists to use alternate routes. The roadway has since reopened, police said in an update shortly before 2:30 p.m.
