MARINE CITY - Looking to buy local, all-natural products? A new business in Marine City may have what you need.

Ever since nursing school, Amy Martinez has been interested in natural medicine. She recalled an assignment where she learned about the medicinal properties of honey and how it spurred her to learn more about natural remedies. Now, Martinez has opened her own all-natural product and botanical store in Marine City.

"Everything that we need has been provided for us on Earth, and there's so many health benefits to things found naturally around us," she said.

Martinez said she wanted to be clear that she will never disregard Western medicine. She said the health benefits found in natural products can help enhance a person's health.

Amy's Relation to Creation and Botanicals LLC is located at 256 South Water St. in Marine City. Its hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

The store is officially open for business. Martinez plans to host a grand opening on Nov. 11.

Martinez has been a nurse since 2010 and has worked within a variety of areas, including an emergency room, hospice and doctor's offices. Although she in now focused on her business, Martinez is still a licensed nurse. She said her business is an extension of her nursing duties.

"When someone comes in here, I can give them wellness advice, but I won't give medical advice," she said. "So, people should know coming in here, the products here can support the medicine they're used to. We're not diagnosing or curing."

The store sells an assortment of all natural products, such as dried herbs, shower bombs and essential oils. Martinez said her store has three core values: be as close to nature as possible, use as little plastic as possible and source as local as possible.

"I'm always looking for local artisans and crafters to help supply herbal or natural products," she said.

Martinez plans to expand her product in the future. She is currently looking into providing all-natural makeup, all-natural honey and maple syrup and silver.

In addition to the products, the store also has a meeting space that is available for rent. Martinez said a variety of groups, like support groups or education groups, can call her to book the space.

To book the space, call Martinez at (810) 335-4622.

"I believe in holistic healing and that kind of healing can happen through conversation," she said. "Providing a space for that to happen was very important to me."

Martinez will also use the space to give lectures about various health topics. The first one she has planned will most likely be about heart disease.
