Natural gas leak in Arlington closed roads

UPDATE 2/15, 5:41 p.m. — The Arlington County Fire Department said in a post that the gas leak has been secured and there are no more further hazards.


ARLINGTON, Va. (DC News Now) — Crews were at the scene of a natural gas leak in Arlington on Thursday afternoon. Officials said that it would be a “prolonged incident.”

The Arlington County Fire Department posted on the X platform just before 11:45 a.m. that units were at the area of Columbia Pike and S Adams Street for the gas leak.

Washington Gas also responded to the leak and was still investigating as of 12:40 p.m.

DC police officers shot serving warrant released from hospital

Officials said that Columbia Pike between S Wayne and S Barton streets was closed in both directions for the response.

The fire department said to expect traffic disruptions and avoid the area if possible.
