LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The month of January ended with some big winners in Arkansas Scholarship Lottery drawings.

A Jan. 31 Natural State Jackpot drawing had a winning ticket worth $130,000, lottery officials said. The ticket was sold at the J-Mart on Midland Blvd. in Fort Smith, although officials said the winner has not yet come forward to claim their prize.

In a second win, Paul Price Jr. of Hot Springs has come forward to claim a $25,000 prize from the Jan. 27 LOTTO drawing. Price and his wife claimed their prize at the ASL claim center in Little Rock on Feb. 2.

Price’s win came from matching five of the six numbers drawn, along with a matching bonus number, officials said.

Price told ASL officials that he found out the ticket was a winner when his wife went into a convenience store to scan it.

“The lady behind the counter said, ‘You are a winner, but we can’t cash that here,’” the couple told lottery officials.

“I said, ‘Thank you, heavenly Father,” Price told officials.

Price told officials he intended to tithe, pay off some credit cards and run electricity to his boat dock with the money.

Since nobody has won its top prize, the next LOTTO has a $950,000 jackpot for its next drawing, on Wednesday.
