After falling to UC Davis on the road last week, Northern Arizona football (2-5, 1-3 Big Sky) will look to finish its road trip on a high note against Idaho State (1-6, 1-3 Big Sky).

NAU currently leads in all time wins against Idaho State, with their last face off being on Oct. 2, 2021, NAU defeated Idaho State, 48-17. Searching for a repeat of last years meeting, head coach Chris Ball will rely on his receiver core once again for an impressive outing.

Last year, the Lumberjacks gave up a touchdown just 2:06 into the game, but the offense showed no signs of giving up after that. NAU scored 30 straight points over the next 30 minutes of play. Sophomore quarterback RJ Martinez threw for three touchdowns and 369 yards in that matchup and will hope for a repeat this weekend.

Martinez currently leads the Big Sky with 1,743 passing yards this season and threw for 300 yards, the sixth time in his career and fourth time this season.

Idaho State is coming off a win against Cal Poly last weekend, 40-31, snapping a 12-game losing streak dating back to last season. The last time NAU lost to Idaho State on Sept. 28, 2018, 56-42.

The Lumberjacks and Bengals have similar stats this season, with NAU having 348.6 total offensive yards and Idaho State putting up 362.4. NAU Redshirt junior Jamal Glaspie currently ranks second in the Big Sky with 37 receptions this season, followed by redshirt sophomore Coleman Owen and junior Hendrix Johnson, tied for 31 a piece, fifth in the Big Sky.

NAU will kick off against Idaho State on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Holt Arena in Pocatello, Idaho. The game will be available on ESPN+ and  Hulu with a subscription to the Disney Bundle.
