Navarro Football: Bulldogs fall to Copiah-Lincoln in Heart of Texas Bowl

Dec. 4—COMMERCE — Navarro's Bulldogs, who fought back after an 0-2 start this season to reach the Heart of Texas Bowl, came up short 28-20 to Copiah-Lincoln Saturday at Commerce's Memorial Stadium.

Navarro led 13-7 at halftime on a pair of Eddie Acosta field goals (33 and 42 yards) and a 36-yard TD pass from Dane Jentsch to Jaxxon Warren with 23 seconds left before the break.

But the Dawgs (6-5) couldn't keep up with Copiah-Lincoln (10-2), which outscored Navarro 21-0 to build a 28-13 lead before Dentsch connected with Braylon Finney for a 21-yard TD in the final minutes.

Jentsch completed 16-of-25 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns, but was intercepted twice. He also ran for 77 yards on 20 carries. D'Tyrian McCoy led the Bulldog ground game, rushing for 105 yards on 19 carries.
