Gulf Breeze Will Do now accepting grant applications

Gulf Breeze Will Do, a women’s philanthropic group, is now accepting grant applications through Sept. 30.

Prospective grant applicants must have a project or initiative that serves the communities in the 32561 and/or 32563 zip code areas to apply. Organizations and groups without tax-exempt status will be considered.

Gulf Breeze Will Do grant amounts range from a minimum of $1,000 to a maximum of $10,000 in the following categories: Art, Recreation and Sports; Education; Hardship Support Services; Public Safety; and Environment.

The organization was born out of a group of Gulf Breeze women who formed an organization that could serve as a funding tool to help other nonprofit organizations and individuals who are trying to make a difference in the Gulf Breeze and Pensacola Beach communities.

Grant funding at GBWD is provided by collective annual membership dues, of which 100 percent is distributed back to the community. Every member has a vote on which organizations receive grant funding. Since its inception in 2014, Gulf Breeze Will Do has awarded more than $413,000 to initiatives in the Gulf Breeze and Pensacola Beach communities.

SRCAS adopts Petco Love Lost database to reunite lost pets with their families

Santa Rosa County Animal Services is joining forces with Petco Love – formerly known as the Petco Foundation, a national nonprofit working to lead and inspire change for animals – and animal welfare groups across the country, on a shared mission to help reunite lost pets with their families should they ever go missing. Sadly, according to industry statistics, one in every three pets will go missing in their lifetime.

Petco Love Lost is a new, searchable national database that uses patented facial recognition technology to make finding lost pets quicker and easier. This simple-to-use tool will be easily accessible to participating animal organizations nationwide, as well as any pet parent or person who finds a lost pet. Uploaded photos of a missing dog or cat are immediately scanned to determine whether the lost pet is at a participating shelter or with a neighbor in the community.

To learn more about SRCAS, visit santarosa.fl.gov/animals and follow SRCAnimalServices. If you’ve lost or found a pet, Petco Love Lost is here to help get them home.

The Mayor's Neighborhood Cleanup allows residents in the cleanup areas to leave eligible items at the curb on cleanup day to be picked up by Pensacola Sanitation Services. The cleanup includes bulk items such as household appliances, furniture and mattresses, bicycles and toys, tires and old paint.

Through the program, all city neighborhoods have a cleanup once a year during the months of January through October. In addition to Sanitation Services collecting items left at the curb, Code Enforcement conducts a sweep of the cleanup area and addresses any code violations.
